"... Its specific use for black and white is an asset for photographers who work mainly in monochrome, minimizing post-processing...."

Robert Comby presenting K-3 Mark III Monochrome

PENTAX photographers had the opportunity to test the K-3 Mark III monochrome in their everyday photography before its market launch. We share their assessment here.

Robert Comby, 68 years old, lives near to Paris and is a professional photographer with all his passion.
He had his first experience in his own photo lab, developing black and white films at the time. To this day, this fascination has not left him, and so he was predestined to be one of the first to try out the new PENTAX K-3 Mark III Monochrome.

Robert Comby finds his inspiration both in the streets of Paris and in more distant places such as India or the Indian Ocean, as well as in Italy, especially Venice, that magical and inspiring city to which he returns regularly.

Herewith he shared some impression he made with the PENTAX K-3 Mark III Monochrome

" ... In my artistic approach I often don't look for something specific, I observe, wait and use the moment.
I like to take photographs in Paris or Venice. Here I always find the intimate moments in a very special atmosphere.
For these moments, when I want to capture this atmosphere, black and white is indispensable for me.
Black and white photography is about telling a story, highlighting a subject and expressing emotion without the distraction of colour. Everything that compensates for the loss of colour is highlighted: Lines, shapes, contrasts, highlights, reliefs.

I regret that I only had the camera for a short time. I would have liked to take it with me to Venice, or according to my photographic approach, to roam the streets of Paris with it to capture those very special atmospheric moments of this city ... "
