PENTAX WG-1000 - An all-weather outdoor camera with superb waterproof performance

The WG-1000 offers advantages that smartphones and many cameras do not - it can also be used in con-ditions where it gets really rough and wet. Many people know the situation when they have to concentrate fully on their sport, such as canoeing or climbing, but still want to capture these exciting moments in the picture. This is where the WG-1000 comes into its own.

A solid, all-weather body for protection against dust and water

The PENTAX WG-1000 has a reliable all-weather housing that is waterproof (JIS Class 8) to a depth of 15 metres and can be operated continuously for up to one hour; it is dustproof (JIS Class 6) against dirt and stains and shockproof* even against falls from a height of up to two metres. Thanks to this robust construction, the WG-1000 can be used for a wide range of activities, even in harsh, demanding conditions, and even for underwater shooting. A special feature opens up further usage options.

Sharp, clear images

The WG-1000 features a back-illuminated CMOS image sensor with approximately 16.35 effective megapixels and outstanding light reception efficiency to deliversharp, clear, high-resolution images. Within its compact, lightweight body, it features a four-times optical zoom lens with afocal-length coverage from 4.9 mm to 19.6mm (equivalent to approx. 27mm to108mm in the 35mm format) to accommodate a wide range of applications. When coupled with its Digital Zoom function, you can extend the zoom range by approximately 24 times.

A range of shooting modes to capture all kinds of scenes and subjects

The WG-1000 provides a choice of seven distinctive capture modes, including: Auto Picture, which automatically detects a given scene or subject and selects the most appropriate shooting mode; Manual, which allows you to manually select the desired aperture, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity; Underwater, which reproduces true-to-life colors of the underwater world by reducing the bluish color cast; and Scene, which lets you select a desired scene mode from 18 different options.

A selection of Color modes to personalize the visual expressions

The WG-1000 provides 20 Color modes to add the desired finishing touch to your images. In addition to the conventional Black and White and Sepia modes, it also features more creative options, such as Japan Style, which enhances bluish hues; Italian Style, which enhances greenish hues; French Style, which enhances reddish hues; Negative, which creates a finishing touch resembling that of negative film before a positive is made; and Sketch, which adds a visual effect resembling that of a drawing. Full HD Movie recording

The WG-1000 features a choice of movie recording modes, including: Full HD Movie (at a frame rate of 30 frames per second) and High Speed Movie* for recording slow-motion movies (with 640 X 480 pixels, at 120 frames per second). It also provides the easy-to-access Movie button for a delay-free start of movie recording.
* Maximum duration: 30 seconds for recording, two minutes for playback. Audio recording is not available.

Interval Shooting

The WG-1000’s Interval Shooting function lets you automatically capture a series of images at a fixed interval. You can choose the desired interval setting from 30 seconds, one minute, five minutes, or 10 minutes.

Versatile self-timer

The WG-1000’s self-timer provides three options: two-second delay, 10-second delay, and Self-timer Smile, which automatically releases the shutter when the camera detects a smiling face.

Dependable protection against ethanol, sodium hypochlorite and chlorine dioxide solutions

Since the WG-1000 can be safely sterilized with solutions containing ethanol, sodium hypochlorite (approved as a disinfectant of food additives) or chlorine dioxide, you can use it at medical facilities and production lines. Two-point strap suspension The WG-1000 provides two strap lugs, so it can be suspended horizontally at two points using the optional O-ST174 Neck Strap. This strap also comes in handy when you want to carry the camera across your body.

"I own digital full frame 2/3 frame Pentax/Ricoh cameras and saw the WG1000 as an occasional seaside and river ventures on holiday but it is clipped to my waist very day and whenever or whatever triggers my sight exploration would press the select the appropriate Icon for portrait or landscape or other and zoom away to trigger the shutter and see the result on the screen. It’s a fun camera and relieve the acquired habit of my phone Ricoh’s summer offer was the turning point and very unhappy that Ricoh did not alert non EU customers that à £40. 00 of 22percent handling and postage charge would be imposed snd the spur of the moment forgot the camera is available in London with the summer discount without any postage handling and regrettably my trust and confidence with Pentax EU but my kit of camera Pentax are chosen as “horses for Courses” basis and Pentax cameras are passionately designed for best quality optics and reliable mechanism WG1000 is light not too bulky for a 29-100 zoom lens and silicone skin though it caused the shutter release some finger force but a walkaround camera in any weather develop my photographic sense of image creation and so far buf for the additional but significant charge , mh waist is WG1000 happy and ready to snap"

"Ola Esta é a segunda camera que compro pois a primeira teve um acidente. Volto a indicar o que disse da primeira camera: 1º não se consegue modificar a velocidade de obturação e mantendo a mesma ate eu desligar a camera, ou seja para cada fotografia tenho que por a velocidade de obturação que eu quero, coisa que debaixo de agua leva muito tempo. 2º não é possível mudar a configuração de vídeo pois a camera não permite. 3º espero que não haja outro acidente para eu poder ter a camera por muito tempo."
