This smc PENTAX-DA★300mmF4ED[IF] SDM single focus lens is designed for PENTAX's top-of-the-line lens series, combining exceptional imaging power and image rendition with outstanding operability and environment-resistant performance.

The super telephoto lens of the DA* series is designed for use on PENTAX cameras with an APS-C sensor, and here offers a focal length equivalent to the 35mm format of 460mm. And thanks to the FF lens aberration correction* this lens could be also used on cameras with 35 mm full-frame sensor.

*The function does not guarantee the quality of the image outside the APS-C image area

Best optical Performance for high-quality images

This super telephoto lens includes two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) optical elements. The second and fifth lenses use ED glass, to effectively minimize spherical and chromatic aberrations, while delivering high-resolution, fine-detailed images with rich contrast from the image’s center to its edges and minimal color bleeding at any focal length setting.

Inner focus construction
The optical system uses an inner focus construction, which is supporting the high demand to the image quality and also allows a significantly more compact design.

Supersonic AF motor (SDM)

Thanks to the incorporation of the PENTAX-original SDM autofocus system driven by a built-in supersonic motor, this zoom lens offers exceptionally smooth and quiet autofocus operation.
When mounted on an SDM-compatible PENTAX K-mount lens-interchangeable digital camera body*, the focus mode is automatically switched to SDM-assisted autofocusing to ensure dependable, flawless AF operation. 

* This lens is compatible with the K-3 Mark III, K-3II, K-3, K-5 II, K-5 II s, K-30, K-01, K-5, K-r, K-7, K-x, K-m, K20D, K200D, K100D Super and K10D camera bodies (with Ver. 1.30 or later firmware installed).
When mounted on other camera bodies, the focus mode is automatically switched to manual.

Lens Hood included

In addition to a variety of features, such as our unique multi-coating and the prevention of reflections in the lens barrel, a special lens hood is included with this PENTAX lens to minimise ghosting and flare that occurs in backlit and other adverse conditions. As such, the lens hood is an integral part of the optical sys-tem and should always be used when using the lens.
This lens is designed so that the lens tip does not rotate when focusing to facilitate the use of circular polarising filters. This is further supported by a small window in the lower part of the aperture to allow the circular polarising filter to be operated.

Quick-Shift Focus System

After focusing using the autofocus, the focus ring can be turned to allow immediate focus adjustment using the manual focus.
This feature enables smooth operability by eliminating the need for an AF/MF switching operation. This is useful during closeup photography, for instance, when you want to shoot while mak-ing fine adjustments to the focus

SP Coating
Is a PENTAX-original special coating that provides superior performance in repelling water and oils. It is used on the front surface of the first high-performance lens for effective protection of the lens surface. This coating not only prevents adhesion of dust, water drops, oils, and other substances, but it also
makes it easy to wipe off objects that adhere to the lens.

PENTAX K Mount

The lens mounts for PENTAX interchangeable lenses are based on the bayonet K mount, which has remained unchanged since its inception in 1975. It is a mount unique to PENTAX that features a large aperture combined with superior ease of replacement, accuracy, and toughness. These features are utilized to comfortably incorporate an iris control mechanism, autofocus mechanism, and other functions for enabling nearly complete compatibility with conventional lenses.
