With a 7.5x zoom factor and high optical quality, the smc PENTAX-DA 18-135mmF3.5-5.6ED AL[IF] DC WR is a perfect lens for general use.

Attaching this lens to a PENTAX digital SLR camera with APS-C Sensor enables use as a 7.5x high-magnification zoom lens with a focal length equivalent to 27.5mm (wide) to 207mm (telephoto) in 35mm film format. This lens is suitable for a wide range of typical photographic situations, from landscapes, snapshots, and portraits to sports events. It uses an advanced optical design for providing high magnification in a compact, lightweight body and its easy operability and mobility make it suitable as a lens for everyday use.

High delineation performance

The optical system uses one ED (extra-low dispersion) glass and one hybrid aspherical lens (AL) and one glass mold aspherical lens. This system enables correcting of various types of aberration and high delineation performance in a compact body design.

Simple drip-proof construction
This lens uses a simple drip-proof construction for preventing water from getting inside the lens. Combined with PENTAX digital SLR cameras also using a drip-proof construction enables use in rainy or foggy conditions, or other locations exposed to water for enhanced durability and reliability.

SP (Super Protect) Coating
SP coating is a PENTAX-original special coating that provides superior performance in repelling water and oils. It is used on the front surface of the first high-performance lens for effective protection of the lens surface. This coating not only prevents adhesion of dust, water drops, oils, and other substances, but it also makes it easy to wipe off objects that adhere to the lens.

A lens surface treated with SP Coating can be wiped clean more easily and completely, even after the ink has dried.

Internal lens motor for smooth autofocus operation

A DC motor for the autofocus (AF) incorporated within the lens enables smooth autofocus operation. A non-rotating mechanism is also used for locking the focus ring during autofocus so that the lens is held in the same position as manual focus.

*The compatible models are: K-1/K-1 Mark II/K-3 Mark III/ K-3II/K-3/KP/KF/K-S2/K-S1/K-70/K-50/K-30/K-5 II/K-5IIs/K-5/K-01/K-7/K-r/K-x/K-m/K20D/K200D/K10D/K100D Super.
(Depending on the modell, the actual firmware is required)
When mounted on other camera bodies, the focus mode is automatically switched to manual.

Lens Hood  included

In addition to a variety of features, such as our unique multi-coating and the prevention of reflections in the lens barrel, a large special lens hood is included with this PENTAX lens to minimise ghosting and flare that occurs in backlit and other adverse conditions. As such, the lens hood is an integral part of the optical system and should always be used when using the lens. Most PENTAX lenses are designed so that the lens tip does not rotate when zooming and focusing to facilitate the use of circular polarising filters. This isfurther supported by a small window in the lower part of the aperture to allowthe circular polarising filter to be operated.

Others

Rounded diaphragm
To produce a smooth, beautiful bokeh (defocus) effect, while minimizing the streaking effect of point light sources

Quick-Shift Focus System
After focusing using the autofocus, the focus ring can be turned to allow immediate focus adjustment using the manual focus.
This feature enables smooth operability by eliminating the need for an AF/MF switching operation. This is useful during closeup photography, for instance, when you want to shoot while making fine adjustments to the focus

PENTAX K Mount

The lens mounts for PENTAX interchangeable lenses are based on the bayonet K mount, which has remained unchanged since its inception in 1975. It is a mount unique to PENTAX that features a large aperture combined with superior ease of replacement, accuracy, and toughness. These features are utilized to comfortably incorporate an iris control mechanism, autofocus mechanism, and other functions for enabling nearly complete compatibility with conventional lenses. The PENTAX K Mount keeps its advanced versatility despite differences in camera and lens functions.
