Premium Function

The premium features are optional, purchasable features that add unique imaging functions not included in the camera's standard features. To use this premium feature, it is necessary to update the camera to the actual firmware version .

How to Unlock Premium Features

1. Turn on the camera and select "Limited Functions" in the camera's menu <Setup, Sub Menu 6>. Select the premium feature you have purchased, select "Read The Unlock Key" and point the camera lens at your dedicated QR code.

2. Please follow the instructions on the menue screen:

3. When the message "Function Released" appears, you can use the premium feature you have purchased.

4. Your premium feature will be added to the still image shooting section of the camera (Menu 3)

Astrophoto Assist

Astrophoto Assist is a premium function combining three distinctive functions:

- Star AF, which automatically focuses the camera on stars during astrophotography;
- Remote Control Focus Fine Adjustment, which assists in manual-focusing operation;
- Astrophoto Image Processing, for the processing of captured images on your camera.

Star AF

Star AF is a function for automatic focusing on stars in astrophotography. Normally, you would pinpoint on a star that is the easiest to bring into focus, then compose the image. With the Star AF, however, you can compose the image first, then focus on stars using the camera’s autofocus system. Since it requires slightly more time for autofocus operation, you are advised to securely mount your camera on a tripod.
Use of the camera’s self-timer or the optional CS-205 Cable Switch is also recommended.

Notes:

This function works only with autofocus lenses.
This function can be used only with Live View operation.
Autofocus operation may not be successful in brightly illuminated locations affected by light pollution, or with stars that are undetectable by the naked eye.

Remote Control Focus Fine Adjustment

Remote Control Focus Fine Adjustment is a function that lets you fine-tune the focus using the optional O-RC1 Waterproof Remote Control unit without operating the lens or camera. This function is particularly useful in astrophotography, macro shooting and other applications where direct contact with the lens makes subtle focusing difficult. It is also useful in cold regions where delicate actions must be performed with gloved hands.

Notes:

This function works only with autofocus lenses.
This function requires use of the optional O-RC1 Waterproof Remote Control unit.

Astrophoto Image Processing

Astrophoto Image Processing is a function that lets you select and adjust new image processing options in astrophotography.

The following six processing options are provided:

1) Uneven Correction
2) Shading Correction
3) Background Darkness
4) Star Brightness
5) Celestial Body Clarity
6) Color Fringe Correction.

Note:

This function works only with RAW- and JPEG-format images captured by this camera. It also works with images captured by the camera prior to purchasing the Astrophotography Assist firmware.
