Wide-angle lens equivalent to focal length of 32mm - ideal for snapshots

The new optical system design tailored specifically to digital image characteristics enables a thin body design with a thickness of only 25mm, or 32mm when the hood is attached. The focal length is equivalent to 32mm in the 35mm film format, and when combined with the pan-focus effect, makes it ideal for snap-shots for capturing daily events. A hybrid aspherical lens and floating mechanism are used for providing sharp, crystal-clear images at all shooting distances.

High quality machined aluminum finish
All major components use a machined aluminum material, from the lens barrel to the hood and cap. This gives the body an exceptional solid feel to the touch.

Unique imaging performance found only in the Limited series.
The optical system uses hybrid aspherical lenses and a floating mechanism for providing imaging with a three-dimensional feel and high contrast, high-resolution, sharp images, and other powerful expressive capabilities found only in the Limited series of lenses.

New HD coating
This lens uses a new-generation multicoating that reduces the reflection rate in the visible spectrum up to 50% or more than conventional multicoating. This enables the reduction of flare and ghosting for the shoot-ing of clear, high-contrast images even under backlighting and other adverse conditions.

Lens Hood included

In addition to a variety of features, such as our unique HD-multi-coating and the prevention of reflections in the lens barrel, a special lens hood is included with this PENTAX lens to minimise ghosting and flare that occurs in backlit and other adverse conditions. As such, the lens hood is an integral part of the optical system and should always be used when using the lens.
The total lens length does not change even if a 43mm filter is attached to the inner side of the hood.
A 49mm filter can also be attached directly to the lens.

SP Coating
SP coating is a PENTAX-original special coating that provides superior performance inrepelling water and oils. It is used on the front surface of the firsthigh-performance lens for effective protection of the lens surface. This coating not only prevents adhesion of dust, water drops, oils, and other substances, but it also makes it easy to wipe off objects that adhere to the lens.  

Round-shapeddiaphragm for beautiful out-of-focus rendition
Featuring a completely round-shaped diaphragm to optimise the performance of their distinctive optics. This diaphragm produces a natural, beautiful bokeh (out-of-focus) effect, while minimizing the streaking effect of point lightsources. 

Quick-Shift Focus System
After focusing using the autofocus, the focus ring can be turned to allow immediate focus adjustment using the manual focus. This feature enables smooth operability by eliminating the need for an AF/MF switching operation. This is useful during closeup photography, for instance ,when you want to shoot while making fine adjustments to the focus
