PENTAX Binoculars DCF 8x20 ED Ricoh Limited Edition
The DCF ED series is tough. Thanks to the magnesium body the binocular is light, but this together with the rubber armoring gives very good impact protection. As well as the technical characteristics you take for granted with PENTAX binoculars, such as the use of inner focusing, phase-corrected BaK4 prisms, JIS 6 classification and nitrogen purging, ED (Extra Low Dispersion) lenses and dielectric coating of the BaK4 prisms made their entrance on the PENTAX objective lenses.
To maximize light transmission, in the DCF ED PENTAX reverts to the proven smc multi-layer coating. In this way the DCF ED eliminates irritating reflections. A further measure to ensure outstandingly faithful colors and contrast is the dielectric coating of the BaK4 roof prisms. In combination, these characteristics achieve the best possible image and color rendering. The DCF ED was conceived basically to satisfy the high demands made by bird watchers.

No easy task, but passed with flying colors! A further factor contributing to its extraordinary optical characteristics is the use of aspherical lenses in the eyepieces. These achieve excellent sharpness right to the edge of the image, giving viewing pleasure par excellence.
The binocular has also the best protection against water ingress. The DCF ED series of binoculars have JIS 6 classification, which means they are waterproof up to 1 meter. This is achieved by use of double O-ring seals and by purging with nitrogen. The scratch-resistant coating of the objective lenses is a further characteristic of these binoculars, which gives optimum protection to the front lenses.
