09.03.23- New function-expansion firmware for PENTAX K-1, K-1 Mark II, K-3 Mark III an KF cameras

In a new approach to SLR photography, PENTAX released already and will launch new special-edition Custom Images, designed to create subject- or scene-specific finishing touches in combination with specific PENTAX Limited-series lenses — lenses popular for their distinctive image rendition. As a lens is mounted, the camera automatically detects compatibility with the firmware. Once compatibility is confirmed, the user can then select special-edition Custom Images.

The new special-edition Custom Images cover the seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. The Custom Image mode specially designed for each season will be available in combination with specific Limited-series lenses. PENTAX will release four season-specific Custom Image modes over the year.

After the introduction of three Special-Edition Custom Image functions for specific seasons and lenses, KATEN, KYUSHU and FUYONO, RICOH IMAGING anouncing now the fourth pre-set.

Special-edition Custom Images

● HARUBENI (Spring Rouge)

This special-edition, season-specific Custom Image mode is designed to emphasize the pinkish colors of cherry blossoms — the hint of the arrival of spring — and the subdued blue colors of hazy spring skies.

This mode can be selected in combination with:

HD PENTAX-FA 77mm F1.8 Limited
HD PENTAX-DA 20-40mm F2.8-4 ED Limited

Both lenses highly regarded for their soft, delicate image reproduction.

Menu screen
When a lens is mounted, the camera automatically checks for compatibility, then displays the HARUBENI-specific menu screen.

Beside of this Customer-Image Expansion, there is a special update except for PENTAX KF

• Added focus limiter function.
  It can be used when attaching the HD PENTAX-D FA MACRO 100mmF2.8ED AW macro lens.
• The SATOBI parameter can be changed to any value in the custom image when shooting movies.
• The FUYUNO parameter values are displayed correctly in the custom image when shooting movies.

For K-3  Mark III there is a correction:

• Some functions are not displayed in the control panel in movie mode in version 1.70. *If you have customized the movie mode control panel in version 1.70, after updating to version 1.80, please reset the registered contents of control panel to initial state or re-customize it.

Information to Pentax K-1 / K-1 Mark II user:
With the Firmware update 2.0, there is now available a special function [Grad ND Shooting].
This is limited to the Japanese market only. And a special activation key (release key) obtained from a website or other source required to activate the limited functions. 

• Note: The Grad ND Shooting activation key issuance is a service that will be launched first in Japan. the launch of this service outside of Japan has not yet been determined.
